Ertoel Hand Drum Carders
Either carder must be clamped to a solid table or bench (clamps supplied). Screw on the handle and turn clockwise.
Fibre is fed under the small drum, which feeds onto the larger drum. When this is full, using the screwdriver supplied, break the fibre across the aluminium strip and fold the batt off backwards. Then start again leaving the fibre on the small drum. Both units work in an identical manner, and these busy little machines take the tedium out of hand carding and thus help keep your enthusiasm for craftwork high.
Phone: (03) 6326 2603 Denise Electric Carder This machine has similar drum sizes to the "Celia" hand drum carder. However, it has a 2" diameter drum at the rear to act as a "worker", making 3 drums in all.
The overall dimensions are 28" long, 12" high, and 18" wide, quite suitable for table top use.
All drums are 8" wide
The whole assembly is driven by a 1/4 H.P. motor, single phase, and can be plugged into any household power point (Australia). The carding process is not continuous and when the 6" diameter main "swift" drum is full, the batt of fibre needs to be lifted off as is with hand carders. This is done by breaking apart the fibre at the aluminium strip and folding off backwards. The batt is almost 500mm (20") in length. The wool (or other fibre) is fed through the opening of the perspex window with the cover down. When the main "swift" is full, the cover (hinged at the back) lifts up and back. $1495.00 eachPlus $115 for crating, plus freight.
